Factors to consider when choosing your solar panel
1) What total capacity do you need?
- Based on location (how many PSH/day in the worst irradiation month)
- The daily energy yield you need for your designed load & recharge targets
- Buffer added to account for degradation factors or load expansion window
- PWM regulators require arrays that are voltage matched to suit the load
- MPPT regulators require arrays that output at least 5V greater than the required
battery charging voltage, at the temperature corrected operating voltage

- WHS lifting considerations
- Wind loading on a tall pole assembly
- Post side, post top, roof flush, roof tilted
- Thin lite panels that can be glued down (inc vertical scenarios)
- Check cable gauge and length vs operating voltage and voltage drop
- Do you need parallel branch connectors to match?
- Do you need string fuses for arrays with parallel configurations
